You can get the flu even if you’re young and healthy. If you’re over 65 or have a health problem, catching the flu can be extra risky. That’s why it’s important to get a seasonal flu shot every year. It’s one of the best ways to protect yourself and others.

You CAN’T get the flu from the flu vaccine

Every year, some people choose not to get a seasonal flu vaccine because they think you can get the flu from the flu vaccine. That’s not true. In fact, doctors strongly recommend getting the flu vaccine because it’s one of the best ways to help protect yourself from the flu.

It’s important to keep your protection up to date

Vaccine protection declines over time and flu viruses are constantly changing. The vaccine is updated each year based on which flu viruses are making people sick.

If you got a COVID-19 vaccine, you should still get a flu shot

If you got your COVID-19 shot, you’ll still need a seasonal flu shot since it’s a different virus. You still have time to get your flu shot to help protect yourself and others.
